My Thoughts on LUS All-in-One Leave-In

I’ve been reading fellow curly girl reviews on this product. As a curly hair enthusiast and product junkie, I had to try this leave-in to see what all of the hype was about.

This leave-in is part of a three step process. Shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in. The thought of using just one product had me intrigued.

First off, I really like how lightweight the product is. I used it with a lot of water as directed in the videos I watched. My hair seemed to have more volume and was soft.

The leave-in seems to be great quality. However, during the drying process I started to frizz. To be fair though,  I’ve never been able to use one product. I ended up adding in some Kinky Curly Curling Custard and diffusing. The end result was decent.

In my opinion this is an expensive leave-in at $18.00 a bottle and an additional $11.00 to ship from Canada. Had I been able to use this product as directed then I’d be more inclined to think it was a better value.

  1. I bought the LUS products after seeing the hype too. My curls were defined, but it left me wanting to add more moisture to my hair. Ok product, don’t think I’ll buy it again though. I get better results using the cantu range and the curl maker by Camille Rose.

  2. My hair is very curly.. Letting it drying naturally leaves me with ringlets… But, I am always willing to try “curl” products and have been successful with ANY of them. However, with the hype of LUS,I figured this will be the best. I know how to use product but the support that I received from Customer Service was so many different suggestions… ..which i found amusing. bottomline, I didn’t read the fine print regarding refunds so I’m with a nearly full bottle that did absolutely nothing to my hair – in fact, it seems to take from my curl whether I used too little, too much, too much water or not enough water. I was also rather offended that they wanted a picture of my hair… A picture does not say anything as their ads have proven.

So back to my other products… lesson learned. Probably works better on other people.

  3. Thanks for this — there are surprisingly few product reviews for this stuff Actually glad to hear it’s not a miracle product so I can skip drinking the Kool-Aid.

  4. I am a hairstylist, with long curly hair, and have tried so many products, I really wanted to love this product, I tried every way they show to use it, and more ways I came up with, and I even had help with costumer services, they were very nice and helpful, but, my hair was a mess, and so dry, and itchy scalp, took me heavy conditioning treatments to feel food again, darn…

  5. I bought this product after seeing all the hype on facebook too. Unfortunately for me I got better results with a store product for lesser money so this was a bit of a spendy waste for me. It wasn’t horrible, but for the money I expected better than my $7 product from the store.

  6. Thank you for your honest review, and I am so sorry that this product didn’t work. For me it was a game changer. I only use the three steps, with step 3 being my favourite. I don’t use any gel, mouse, or curl activator, in fact I don’t need to. I was so frustrated from buying product after product to see if it worked in my hair, only to find it wasn’t my miracle cure. (and getting very pricey) To be honest LUS was my last hope. I was just going to stop being a curly girl and go back to regular shampoo/conditioner, but this is the best product I’ve ever used. I guess it depends on your hair and the product. I know people who swear by Deva products, and their hair looks fantastic. I can’t use Deva stuff, it makes my hair a dry tangled mess. So this replaced all the other products I put in my hair, so I feel it’s definitely worth the price. *I also live in Canada, so the shipping is much less.

  7. My hair is right below my shoulders and naturally curly but not a tight curl but more than wavy. I live in ft worth texas and it’s a lil humid but not regularly. I’ve tried this product now 3 times. First time I watched a few videos and put several pumps of step 3 and I did half of the video gurl and my hair was gummy. It frizzed and I was very disappointed. Second time I used my regular redkin dismiss frizz shampoo and conditioner plus step 3. It did lil better using less pumps. Frizz wasn’t as bad but again disappointed. Third time used all 3 steps and it did better but not great. I will also add that I used a defuser all 3 times but dried it more thus last time. It did better but problem is there’s frizz and the curl is gone and nasty looking next day. I might also say its time consuming as well. I will keep trying 2 more times and if no change on to the next one I will move on to a new one. I’ve got so many products and they are all disappointing. I’m trying Equifax next. Any one try it?
